SPECIES SEEN

From 01/11/ to 01/17/10 ~  63

My list this week has 63 species found along the trail.  That compares with 50 seen in 2009, 51 in 2008, and 55 in 2007.  In addition, 7 other species were seen by other birders, all along Santa Gertrudis Lane, including Rose-throated Becard, Inca Dove, Ruddy Ground-dove, Rufous-backed Robin, Varied Thrush, Sage and Crissal Thrashers.  Seventy species is very good list for mid-winter.

As you may have suspected, I am now entering the birding data myself.  So, gone are the beautiful pictures, and the mistake-free formatting that was characteristic of the birding pages.  Karol Stubbs, who did all this good work in the past, has bravely turned the job over to this computer

amateur.  If you have any comments, I can be found at jkarp@anzatrail.com

In the past couple of weeks I failed to include the comparative numbers with previous years.  So here they are: for 01/04 to 01/10 - 2010-68, 2009-61, 2008-58, 2007-57; for 12/28 to 01/03 - 2010-67, 2009-57, 2008-63, 2007-35.
