SPECIES SEEN

From 2/1/2010 to 2/7/2010 ~ in Anza Trail ~ 54 seen

It was another week with rain and mud problems along the trail.  I did not get to Rio Rico, and was only able to walk the full area normally covered at Santa Gertrudis and south from Bridge Rd.  The 54 species seen this week compares with 0 in 2009 (illness), 59 in 2008, and 46 in 2007.

Santa Gertrudis is losing some of its allure with only the Crissal Thrasher on my report, and Painted Redstart and Townsend's Solitaire reported by others.  A Dusky Flycatcher was located, the first since last April.  If you are lookingfor signs of spring, the Bewick's Wrens are singing in large numbers, and Song Sparrows and Northern Cardinals are chiming in too.
