SPECIES SEEN

From 12/07/09 to 12/13/09 ~  61

There were 61 species spotted along the Anza Trail this week.  That compares with 54 seen in 2008 and 51 in 2007.  Some of the rarities reported earlier are still being seen on or near Santa Gertrudis Lane.  I did not get there this week.  The highlights on the list include a Crested Caracara seen in a sky duel with a Common Raven along the Rio Rico section of the trail.  A Hepatic Tanager was seen north of Bridge Rd, about ¾ of the way up to the golf resort.  It was a 4 towhee week, and that is unusual on the Anza.
