SPECIES SEEN

From 12/14/09 to 12/20/09 ~  62

My list this week includes 62 species, and that compares with 56 in both 2008 and 2007.  The list becomes much more impressive when 11 species seen by other birders in the Santa Gertrudis Lane area are added.  The 11 species not included on my list are Townsend’s Solitaire, Rufous-backed Robin, Varied Thrush, Western Bluebird, Crissal Thrasher, American Robin, Cedar Waxwing, Williamson’s Sapsucker, Hepatic Tanager, Black-throated Gray Warbler, and Hammond’s Flycatcher.  The list is curtesy of Diane Touret.  I did not get to Santa Gertrudis Lane this week.

The best find on my list was made by the Tuesday Tubac group.  A Black-white Warbler was found across from the kiosak north of the borrow pit.  Lawrence’s Goldfinches were located north of Rio Rico, and Mountain Bluebirds in the open area west of the Baca Float Sewage Treatment Plant (Tubac).

I will be going east for the holidays, so there will be no report next week.
