SPECIES SEEN
12/15/08 to 12/21/2008

This week 56 species were heard or seen along the Anza Trail in Santa Cruz County.  This can be compared with 61 in 2007, and 47 in 2006.

A Wild Turkey seen north of Bridge Rd. was the first I've ever seen on any segment of the trail.

A Belted Kingfisher was heard overhead on the same section of the trail, the first for that section.

The first Common Ground Dove of the Fall season was seen south of Bridge Rd.

There was no re-appearance of the Northern Parula Warbler, the Louisiana Warbler, or the Peregrine Falcon seen in recent weeks, and no report of their sightingg by anyone else.
