SPECIES SEEN
From 2/25/2008 to 3/2/2008 ~ 67 seen
Another good week with 67 species seen along the Anza Trail. The Tuesday birding group had several good sightings heading south from Bridge Rd.
A Peregrine Falcon was spotted going north near the gate south of Bridge Rd. and one or more Bushtits were found in the trees where the trail comes close to the park road.
A Gilded Flicker was identified on the grounds of the Tubac Presidio.
An Orange-crowned Warbler was seen along Calle Iglesia, only the second sighting in February. Prior to February, Orange-crowneds were spotted regularly.
Other than Tuesday, the highlights included a beautiful male Northern Harrier flying along the trail north of the fairway area on the golf course.
The first swallow of the season, a Nothern Rough-winged Swallow, was seen near the northern gate on the golf course property (current end of the trail). A good week for sparrows with 9

different species located.
Though I did not see it, a female Blue Grosbeak was seen south of Bridge Rd. by at least 2 people.
Finally, male Vermilion Flycatchers seem to be popping up every where, a sure sigh of Spring.
