There were 66 species found along the trail this week. This was the week of the returning hawks. A Gray Hawk was seen south of Bridge Rd. on Wednesday (another birder reported hearing it on Tuesday), and another was seen perching about 45 minutes north of the Rio Rico entrance to the Anza Trail.

Five more Common Black-hawks were seen during the week where the trail parallels Barrio de Tubac, including 4 of them encountered on the Tuesday morning Tubac walk. Two Zone-tailed Hawks were seen between Tubac and the Barrio.

Hummingbirds are returning as well. Rufous and Costa's Hummingbirds were were seen at feeders near the trail south of Tubac. The White-eyed Vireo continued south of Bridge Rd.

A couple of Cinnamon Teal were seen flying over the "borrow pit" on Tuesday.

The Western Bluebirds were missing from the golf course section of the trail for the first time this winter.

Pine Siskins can be heard singing at various places along the trail.

During the week, other birders found species not listed here, including Cassin's and Plumbeous Vireos, Black-throated Gray Warblers, and Northern Beardless-tyrannulet.
