SPECIES SEEN From 3/31/2008 to 4/6/2008 ~ 72 seen The number of species seen this week was 72, and 3 species reported by another birder. The highlight may have been the vireos. Six species of vireos seen, with the rare (here) White-eyed Vireo singing. Good luck on finding a mate this far from its normal territory. The first of season Warbling Vireo was seen just north of the Tubac Resort cow pens. The vireos included Bell's (singing everywhere along the trail), Plumbeous, Cassin's, and Hutton's. The first Western Kingbirds of the season were seen on the Rio Rico stretch of the trail. A Violet-green Swallow flew by on the Tuesday morning Tubac bird walk. Warbling Vireo Species seen by the other birder (Michael Marsden) were Green Heron (Santa Gertrudis), White-faced Ibis (flying over at Bridge Rd.), and Dusky-capped Flycatcher (on the trail near Tubac). ~Jim Karp Ash-throated Flycatcher | HERONS, EGRETS, BITTERNS Great Blue Heron Great Egret DUCKS, GEESE, SWANS
